New Delhi, July 21 -- National award-winning filmmaker Hansal Mehta is busy reading scripts for his next film. However, he is yet "to lock anything."
And he is treading cautiously. "With the recognition comes the responsibility and expectations of people. My next will be assessed keeping Shahid as the yardstick," says Mehta.
But he isn't complaining, for recognition has it's many perks. "A larger number of people's attention has been drawn to my work. And, when you are awarded and acclaimed, you do your work with more confidence. Even others have more confidence in my work now, though I have been lucky in the sense that my work has been appreciated even the past. Also, more people are willing to listen to my stories. I am in a happy place now," says the Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar (2000) director, who is soon visiting Delhi.
"I have family and friends in Delhi and from Delhi. For instance, (filmmaker) Vishal Bhardwaj is from Delhi. But I have to still warm up to the city. I have had an uneasy relationship with the city. The city offers brilliant food choices and is a nice place. So, I am planning to spend time discovering Delhi," he smiles.
