Mumbai, Feb. 26 -- Genelia Deshmukh, who is currently spending time with her three month-old son, Riaan, says she doesn't mind missing out on proper sleep these days.
"His giggle or smile fills me with energy and keeps me going all day, even when I'm actually exhausted," she explains, adding, "Happy moms keep their children happy. You must look after yourself, so that when your child needs you, you can be there. I am up and about with Riaan when he's awake, playing and talking to him, which I think helps."
The actor says that while she is a hands-on mother, actor-husband Riteish Deshmukh has also been playing his role of a father perfectly. "He's fantastic with the baby, and he changes diapers too. Waking up in the night and putting a baby to sleep is more of a mother's job, but if I need Riteish to do it, I'm sure he would," says Genelia.
The actor, who took a break post her wedding in 2012, denies that the move stemmed from her decision to marry into a political family. "Riteish has always maintained that I can do what I want to. I had been working for 12 years without a break, so post the wedding, I was just enjoying myself. I'm ready to work now, but I haven't got any offers yet," she says.
Genelia, who made her Bollywood debut in 2003, had more success with south films till 2008, when she starred in the hit film, Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na. However, she didn't really cash in on its success. But, the actor reasons, "People noticed me irrespective of the industry. I did Bollywood and south films simultaneously as which industry I was working in was of no consequence to me. I was mainly looking at good roles. I didn't run after fame."
