New Delhi, Sept. 27 -- Oscar-winning Bosnian director Danis Tanovic's latest film, Tigers, which stars Emraan Hashmi in the lead (this is Emraan's first international project) is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival 2014 (September 4-14). However, not many know that the project was almost shelved, until two Indian producers - Prashita Chaudhary and Guneet Monga - decided to back the film.
Talking about the project, Danis says, "Tigers is a project I have been nurturing for many years, and began researching in 2006. Despite problems faced, we never gave up, thanks to Guneet and Prashita."
Guneet, who has produced offbeat films such as Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) and The Lunchbox (2013) in the past, says, "This film just had to be made. We worked very hard to put together a team that Danis wanted." Prashita adds, "The story of Tigers needed to be taken to the world not just because it's a true story, but also one that every mother needs to know."
The film revolves around the true story of a salesman Ayan (Emraan) who works with an MNC marketing formula milk for infants, the artificial substitute for breast milk. When he finds out about the damage the formula milk does, he goes against the corporation. Emraan says, "I have my fingers crossed on how the film will be received."
