Mumbai, Aug. 18 -- Ekta Kapoor clearly loves to name her shows after popular Hindi film songs. From Tujh Sang Preet Lagai Sajna, Kya Huaa Tera Vaada and Bade Achhe Lagte Hain to her forthcoming show, whose name is derived from the song 'Yeh dil sun raha hai' from Khamoshi (1996), nearly all her soaps have sought inspiration from evergreen numbers. And, of course, the producer tweaks the titles as per numerology or adds words to fit the theme of her show. But Ekta did have some trouble in zeroing in on the name of her upcoming serial.
A source says, "The title of her next, with Sonali Bendre in the lead, underwent a series of changes. Ekta was keen to have 'Bade dhoke hain iss rah mein', a song from Aar Paar (1954) as the title. She changed it to Bade Dhoke Hain Pyaar Ki Iss Rah Par. Later, she chose 'Yeh kahan aa gaye hum', the popular number from Silsila (1981)."
However, none of the titles were locked, as both were unavailable. The source adds, "Rajan Shahi (TV producer) had the rights to one of them, and was not ready to give it up. Now, after much deliberation, the creative team has zeroed in on 'Ajeeb daastaan hain yeh', the hit song from Dil Apna Aur Preet Parai (1960)."
In the past, using popular songs as titles has helped audiences connect with a new show, since the numbers ensure instant recall value. And that could be why Ekta is so keen on getting the name right. "The process of registering the title is underway," adds the source. Ekta was unavailable for a comment.
