New Delhi, Feb. 25 -- Saina Nehwal's friendship with actor Deepika Padukone is well known. And while the ace shuttler may not have won a single title last year, Deepika has had a great year, with five 100 crore hits and quite a few awards.
Ask Nehwal if she's kept track of Deepika's work, and she says, "Yes, and congratulations to her. I have always believed that good work pays off. I watched her movie, Chennai Express (2013), and it was excellent."
With biopics doing well in Bollywood, there have also been rumours that a biopic is being planned on Nehwal's life. However, asked if she's heard anything on that front, she says, "Let us see, maybe if somebody takes it seriously." In fact, the 23-year-old, who is also seen in some TV ads and has got some acting offers, is clear that she will focus on the game. "No, let me show my talent in badminton (laughs)."
The shuttler, who clinched the Syed Modi International India Grand Prix last month, is now preparing for the prestigious All England Badmintion Open Championships. "I've got good training for the forthcoming tournaments, so obviously I'll try to do my best," she says.
Quizzed about her equation with shuttler PV Sindhu, who is touted as her competitor, Nehwal says, "I think two is always better than one, so that we have good competition. But we are always friendly."
