Mumbai, July 5 -- Of late, Preity Zinta has been making headlines (after filing a case against ex-boyfriend Ness Wadia). While some of her Bollywood peers have come out in her support, a number of them have also stayed away.
In the latest instance, Deepika Padukone has applauded Preity for standing up for "what is correct". "I don't think it's my place to be commenting on anybody else's personal space. What has happened and what hasn't is none of my business. What I can applaud her for is the fact that I have always believed that she is a very strong woman and I appreciate her for that," said Deepika, on the sidelines of an event.
Clarifying that she was "saying it (her opinion) in the context (the Ness-Preity case)", the reigning diva admitted that she has "always admired her for the fact that she has always been very outspoken". Deepika added, "She has always stood for what is right. Preity has never shied away from standing up for what is correct, and I respect her for that."
OTHERS WHO HAVE APPLAUDED PREITY
Last month, while talking to HT Cafe, Vidya Balan had also applauded Preity. "I don't know the exact context of the case, so what can I say? I remember she had once filed a lawsuit against a publication [for defamation], so Preity has always stood up for her rights, and that is great... if she felt it was the right thing to do, then it is the right thing. But full marks to Preity for having the courage [to register the complaint]," Vidya told us.
A few days back, Preity's contemporary, Rani Mukerji, had said that Preity was going through hard times. "I know about it (matter)... she is going through hard times. The only thing I would like to say is that her case is under investigation... it is a very personal thing she has taken up against a person she has known for long time (sic)," Rani had said at a press meet.
