Actor Deepika Padukone, who is currently riding high on the success of Chennai Express, has reportedly clinched a Hollywood role now. Buzz is that the 27-year-old has bagged a part in the seventh installment of the famous Vin Diesel franchise, Fast & Furious. Padukone is likely to
play a significant character in the film, which also stars Hollywood actors Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson. According to sources, the paperwork is in progress and in all likelihood, it will take six months for the contract to be completed.
While it made big news in the fraternity on Thursday, when we contacted Dippy's manager, she neither denied nor confirmed it. An independent attempt to confirm the news from the production house also yielded no concrete confirmation. Deepika, on her part, remained mum as she she has been apparently issued gag orders by Universal Studios before a formal announcement is made. The actor is currently shooting Farah Khan's Happy New Year with Shah Rukh Khan, in Dubai.
While reports suggest that Dippy will play a significant character in the street-racing flick, some are wondering if it will only be a blink-and-miss cameo ala many other Bollywood actors in Hollywood films."Seriously guys, don't get your hopes up about Deepika's role in Fast and Furious 7. Disappoint hoge...," tweeted @lady_gabbar.
If the deal is sealed, Deepika will join the league of Bollywood stars who have made inroads into Hollywood, such as Tabu and Irrfan (The Namesake and Life Of Pi), Aishwarya Rai (Bride and Prejudice, The Mistress Of Spices and Provoked), Anil Kapoor (Slumdog Millionaire and Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol)
