Mumbai, Oct. 14 -- Throw in a celebrity at a festive gathering, and you have a perfect recipe for chaos. That is what seems to have happened in Ahmedabad recently, when Deepika Padukone made an appearance at a garba event to promote her upcoming Sanjay Leela Bhansali film.
A huge crowd apparently gathered to get a glimpse of the actor. Then, as expected, after a point, it became difficult for Deepika's team to manage the crowd, in spite of all the security arrangements.
Amid all this commotion, Deepika spotted a child, who was caught in the melee. When she saw that there was no family member in the vicinity, she stepped in and decided to rescue the kid herself.
"Everyone was trying their best to catch a glimpse of Deepika, not realising that a child was getting smothered in the middle," says a source close to the actor.
Deepika, it seems, took the kid to a less-crowded area where she attempted to reach his parents. "Since she couldn't spot them around the area, she asked her team to find them," the source adds. When we got in touch with Deepika, she confirmed the news. Her spokesperson further added, "She was scared for the child, so she didn't hesitate to step into the crowd."
