New Delhi, April 29 -- Actor Deepika Padukone, who is in a good space professionally, attributes this success to her father, former-badminton ace Prakash Padukone. She says that he not only encouraged her to pursue what she'd love doing, but was also an example of dedication to work.
"Dedication and determination are something that he has always illustrated in his career. When I say it is important to enjoy one's work - I says it because I learnt it from him," says the 29-year-old.
And adds that despite the fact that she was a good badminton player herself, her father let her choose a career she wished to. "This is why he allowed me to become an actor and my sister to be a golfer. He said that the only way to be successful in the field you pick, is to enjoy what you do and follow your dreams," she shares.
And the Cocktail actor gives the same advice to parents seeking guidance for their kids. "This is the advice I give to parents who ask me to help guide their children. I tell them to let their children do what they enjoy," says Deepika, who is looking forward to her film Piku, which is about a quirky daugther-father relationship.
"The story is real and relatable. These are situations in the film, which we can identify with. However, my father's personality is different from Amitabh Bachchan's role of Baba in the film," she says.
