New Delhi, Sept. 28 -- When names such as composer AR Rahman, actors Aamir Khan, Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, cricketer Yuvraj Singh and filmmaker Karan Johar come together for one initiative, then it has to be something really special. And #VogueEmpower, a social awareness initiative that draws attention to women's empowerment, is just that.
Supported by Hindustan Times, the initiative has seen celebs from various walks of life taking a pledge to take the cause of women's empowerment forward by either contributing to a charity of their choice, or offering their services, time or expertise to raise consciousness on the issue.
"The idea is to engage with Vogue's circle of influencers and thought leaders to become our pledge-makers, our agents of change. We want them to mobilise people to think, talk and act in ways that highlight and draw attention to women's empowerment The message is simple: it starts with you," says Vogue India editor, Priya Tanna. #VogueEmpower, attempts to raise awareness about issues faced by women, both urban and rural - through various platforms - the magazine, social media, digital, and offline activities.
