The curious case of missing actors!

Bipasha Basu

New Delhi, June 11 -- Actor Bipasha Basu has hit headlines for reportedly refusing to promote her upcoming release, even as her co-stars in the film are going to town talking about the project.

However, this is not the first time that an actor decided to stay away from film promotions. The reasons for abandoning film promotion range from being unhappy over their role in the film or the final cut, or not being given 'special treatment' vis-a-vis otother stars in the film.

We track some of these actors who went missing from their films' promotions.

KANGANA RANAUT     Actor Kangana Ranaut was conspicuous by her absence from the promotions of Sanjay Gupta's 2013 film, Shootout at Wadala. Apparently, Kangana was miffed that actor Priyanka Chopra, who had done the item number, Babli Badmaash Hai, in the film, was hogging all the limelight.

BIPASHA BASU     The actor, whose upcoming film, Humshakals, is being extensively promoted, has not been seen at any of the promotional events for the same. Buzz is that Bips is miffed with film's director ector Sajid Khan for giving more attention tion to other female co-stars of the film m - Esha Gupta and Tamannaah Bhatia - over her.

SHAHID-KAREENA     Actors Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor decided not to jointly promote their long-in-the-making film, Milenge Milenge (2010), that released after their breakup, more than two years ago. The duo even refused to shoot for a promotional video for their film together and promoted it individually.

AKSHAY KUMAR     Actor Akshay Kumar did not promote his 2012 film, Joker due to reported differences with the film's director Shirish Kunder. He was instead seen promoting his other project, Oh My God. Many distributors even demanded a compensation from Akki, claiming that had he promoted the film, its business would have gone up.

ABHAY DEOL     Actor Abhay Deol, too, skipped the promotions of his film, Aisha (2010), as he was unhappy with the way the film, (co-starring Sonam Kapoor) had turned out. "A film should be talked about for its content, not for what the actors are wearing. Too much energy was wasted in styling the wardrobe," Abhay had said in an interview.
