Bappi Lahiri: A token of appreciation..


Mumbai, March 26 -- Bappi Lahiri is happy that his directorial venture, a short film called Slum Stars (2015), has garnered appreciation from top political leaders.

He had the opportunity to present the VCDs of the short film to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, and the Prime Minister of Nepal, Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli.

"I feel honoured to have been appreciated by three prime ministers. It has been a humbling experience," says Lahiri. The musician has composed songs for over 650 films, and they have been loved by multiple generations - be it the '80s hit 'I am a disco dancer' from Disco Dancer (1982) or the more recent 'Ooh la la' from The Dirty Picture (2011), which he also sang.

Slum Stars also won an award under the short film category at the International Film and Entertainment Festival Australia, in 2015.
