Ayushmann all set to fly!

Ayushmann Khurana

Mumbai, Dec. 23 -- While some stars take up unusual hobbies - collecting expensive cars, or buying rare paintings - others like to add unique skills to their repertoire. In the west, John Travolta and Angelina Jolie hold pilot licences, while closer home it was Shahid Kapoor who flew an F-16 jet plane for his film Mausam (2011). And joining this milehigh club is Ayushmann Khurrana who is planning on getting a license too.

Flying caught the actor's fancy while working on his upcoming film that revolves around a scientist who apparently made India's first unmanned airplane.

A source close to the actor says, "Ayushmann is intrigued by planes now that he is working closely with the subject. He has been asking his friends and team members about the process of acquiring a license, and also been researching on institutes where he can train in Mumbai. He's keen to get a license and will be undergoing physical tests this week, which is the first step."

Sharing his excitement, Ayushmann says, "Flying has always intrigued me since childhood. I'm dying to fly a plane for real."

The actor is also looking forward to the rigorous training, which includes theory and flying lessons with a trained co-pilot. The source adds, "Once he learns the ropes, he will have to complete 60-80 hours of flying a small plane before he gets a formal license. Ayushmann has decided to work around his schedule and probably start his day early to ensure he give time to his hobby."
