Mumbai, Jan. 31 -- Asin - who of late is in the news more for social and environmental causes than her acting - is now taking a stand against the use of plastic. A few weeks ago, she had also reportedly returned a luxury handbag brand's gift to her, since the bag was made using crocodile skin.
A source close to the actor says that she was always aware of the harmful effects of plastic, but when she recently came across a drain that was clogged by the material, she promptly asked her staff to stop using plastic bags altogether. "Asin even distributed environmentfriendly bags among her staff for daily use," says the source.
When contacted, Asin confirmed the development, and said, "Since childhood, I am against the use of plastic bags. They are non-biodegradable; I don't think one needs another reason. So, I took a stand."
