Mumbai, Jan. 10 -- Arjun Rampal will be seen playing gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli in an upcoming biopic that will be directed by Gaurav Bavdankar. Currently, the actor is busy preparing for his role. To learn more about Gawli, he has even been interacting with his family members.
Gawli's daughter, Geeta, confirms the development, saying, "Arjun has met me a few times to discuss my father's personality for his film. He has also met some other family members about four times; he has been in touch with us."
Interestingly, Arjun also plans to visit Dagdi Chawl, Byculla, which is where Gawli's den is located. However, no specific date has been set for the visit. Geeta says, "So far, all the meetings that he has had with me and my family have happened outside [Byculla]. He will visit Dagdi Chawl soon; we have discussed it, but I cannot say when exactly he will go."
A source close to the actor reveals that he also plans to interact with those who live in the area and are close to Gawli. "Arjun has been really involved in the preparation. He has lost a lot of weight for the part too," adds the source. Apparently, to make Arjun look shorter in the film, so that he resembles Gawli's frame, the makers have roped in a relatively taller secondary cast.
Although the film was supposed to go on the floors in April 2014, it is yet to roll.
