Mumbai, Sept. 13 -- Arjun Kapoor has had a fruitful year with three back-to-back biggies, including a '100-crore grosser. While his fourth venture (father Boney Kapoor and uncle Sanjay Kapoor's production) was also supposed to come out this year itself, the Kapoors have now decided to delay the release from December 5 to January 9 next year, as they feel Arjun has had enough releases this year.
"We decided to postpone the movie because he's had three releases this year. Now that we have pushed our film to next year, he can easily have at least two releases in 2015," says Boney.
Apparently, Arjun has also agreed to play Gopal in a film based on Chetan Bhagat's novel, Revolution 2020. The film is likely to release next year. Another reason for pushing the dates, Boney adds, is that December looked a bit "cluttered" with three big films set to hit theatres on December 5. From a trade point of view, experts think this is a smart move.
"It's always good if two or more films don't clash because they end up eating into each other's business. Also, if we get release dates in advance for next year, it helps everyone in the movie value chain - exhibitors, producers and distributors - to plan things well," says exhibitor-distributor Akshaye Rathi.
