New Delhi, June 20 -- The upcoming months will see six top female actors clashing at the box-office. Come September 12, Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma and Bipasha Basu will all hit the screen together, with their new releases.
While Deepika will be seen in Homi Adajania's Finding Fanny, Anushka will star in her first production, NH10, and Bips is part of Vikram Bhatt's Creature 3D, a monster sci-fi.
Then, October 2 will have actors Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and Shraddha Kapoor fighting for the top spot. PeeCee will be seen in her Mary Kom biopic, Kat in Bang Bang, and Shraddha in Vishal Bhardwaj's Haider.
Trade analysts feel such clashes at the box office are inevitable. "The best of the films are reserved for release in the second half of the year. Now, we only have 26 weeks out of which 5-6 weeks will be lost in Ramzan and Shraadh (religious observances). So, clashes in the remaining 20 weeks are inevitable. It will be interesting to see the queens battling it out at the box office," says industry expert Atul Mohan.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh says this also means a gala time for film fans. "It is a great time as there are so many big-ticket films to choose from," he says. However, such clashes may mean division of collections. "Whenever big films release on the same date, they are bound to eat into each other's business. That's why makers have often tried to avoid clashing, and I won't be surprised if there are last minute date changes this time around, too. In the end the film with better content will always win," says expert Amod Mehra.
The filmmakers, on their part, are unfazed. "We don't seem to suffer from a lack of population so fortunately I think there's enough to go around," says filmmaker Homi Adajania.
"I am very confident of my film and not worried about other films clashing with it. Our genres and audiences are different," says filmmaker Bhushan Kumar.
