Mumbai, Dec. 7 -- Rumours that Anurag Kashyap wants to make Paris, France, his base remain unconfirmed, but the film-maker and occasional actor has another connection with the country. He will be part of the Indian jury of an online French film festival in January. This is the first edition in which the films will be available for viewing in India.
"I never miss a chance to watch any movie, so being on the jury is just an excuse for me to see the work of new film-makers. Last year, I was on the jury (of the My French Film Festival) in France, so why not in India now," says Anurag.
Commenting on why he loves independent French cinema, he elaborates, "If there's any language I'd like to learn, it's French. They make great films, and since all international films release there, the people really support cinema. I envy their liberation from moral codes. And, the support from distributors as well as the audience translates in the cinema they create. French films have taught me to be brutally honest, without any fear."
Ask him about the French artistes he would like to collaborate with and Anurag says, "I would love to work with actors Tahar Rahim, Golshifteh Farahani, Marion Cotillard, and Lea Seydoux, and film-makers such as Olivier Assayas and Bertrand Bonello."
