Amitabh Bachchan and his wife Jaya Bachchan's acting debut on TV were announced almost around the same time last year. While Amitabh's show came and went without creating any ripples on the rating chart, it's been almost a year since there was any news about Jaya's serial. Now, sources claim that the show might not take off at all.
Apparently, the woman-oriented show was supposed to have Jaya in the role of a single mother who manages an entire family - three sons, their wives and kids. The fiction show was to be based on the Gujarati novel, Yog Viyog, and it was revealed that the senior actor was herself taking active interest in the casting of other actors as she was co-producing the show. The show was gathering momentum as many popular faces were being considered for pivotal roles.
However, soon, the hype died. Sudeep Sahir, who was signed for a role in the show, says, "I was confirmed for the show in December last year, but then didn't hear from them (the production team) after that. In March this year, I was told that the show might not happen, and that I should look out for work. I don't think it is happening."
A source close to the show echoes a similar stance, saying, "Actors were signed for the show, but no look tests or any other development happened. The set was ready and they were supposed to do a workshop, but then suddenly there was no news. Then representatives of the production team called to tell actors about the uncertain future of the show."
