Mumbai, Jan. 25 -- The team of Amitabh Bachchan's upcoming film, Shamitabh, will pay a special tribute to legendary poet Rabindranath Tagore on the occasion of Republic Day tomorrow.
The film's director, R Balki, has shot a video featuring Bachchan at Tagore's ancestral home, Jorasanko Thakur Bari, in north Kolkata, where the star will be seen singing the National Anthem. Big B has also sung the track in the video.
"The idea was not disclosed to anyone, including the press, so that the shooting of the video could happen peacefully. Though Bachchan's co-stars in Shamitabh, Dhanush and Akshara Haasan, were also present for the shoot, we are unsure whether they are part of the video too," says a source from the film's unit.
While this initiative might look like a part of the film's promotional strategy, Balki says that this is his team's contribution to society. "It was like a dream come true to have Mr Bachchan sing the National Anthem for the very first time. He will also feature in the video. It is our contribution to the society and our country. The song will be telecast on leading TV channels on Republic Day," says Balki.
