Cult classic Sholay (1975) is finally set to return to the big screen 38 years later, in a new 3D format. And even though it may not have director Ramesh Sippy’s support, the upcoming release has found the backing of its lead actors, Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra.
We have been informed that both the actors have given the heads-up to participate in the film’s promotions as and when they begin.
A source close to the production house reveals, "Bachchan and Dharmendra will be a constant feature in the promotional activities. They have extended support towards the film."
Apparently, neither actor had any hesitation before giving their consent.
"Sholay is a very important film for both of them, and they have many memories attached to it. They readily agreed to participate when they were approached," says the source, adding, "For every actor who was part of the cast, this is a special film. And over the years, it has become one of the most memorable films of Indian cinema."
When contacted, Jayantilal Gada, who is presenting the film, confirms the news saying, "We are requesting each and every person associated with the iconic Sholay to participate. Principally, both Bachchan and Dharmendra have agreed."
Sippy had confirmed in a recent interview that he will not participate in any activities relating to the 3D release of the film.
