Mumbai, Feb. 14 -- Alia Bhatt, whose injured ankle is preventing her from hitting the gym, has hit the pool to stay fit. The actor is no stranger to injuries.
Last year, she hurt her calf muscle while rehearsing for a song in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014), and had to sport a plaster and walk with an elbow crutch during promotions of the film. It led co-star Varun Dhawan to joke that this was God's way of taking revenge on her. Recently, she even performed at an awards function with an injured leg.
The latest injury occurred while she was working out with her personal trainer. "The trainer thought it was a sprain, but it turned out to be a lot worse. Alia was concerned about how she would exercise, because she needs to get in shape for her next with Shahid Kapoor. Shooting is set to begin at the end of the month," says a source close to the actor.
Her trainer then suggested that while Alia recovers from the injury, she should take up swimming. "It's the only exercise that won't put pressure on her ankle, and will still offer the benefits of a complete workout," adds the source.
When contacted, Alia's spokesperson confirmed the story.
