Pakistani singer-turned-actor Ali Zafar, who impressed audiences with his lead performance in Tere Bin Laden (2010), did not want to play the lead role in the sequel.
In fact, he opted for another character to make the film more interesting. "I thought I would be more excited to do the film if I could take up one particular role. We have done something interesting. When the movie releases, you will see it," says Ali.
Though the actor has seen some amount of success in Bollywood with films like Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011) and Chashme Baddoor (2013), he says he has a special attachment with this project. However, he refrains from divulging any more details.
"I can’t talk much about the film, as that would reveal the plot. Tere Bin Laden had an offbeat and unconventional plot. The director has given a completely different angle to the sequel — something that has not been explored here before," says Ali.
Also, Ali has ventured beyond just acting this time and claims to have conceptualised a certain portion of the film, while composing music for the project as well.
He also reveals that the sequel features Pradhuman Singh, who played Osama Bin Laden in the original, and also features TV host Manish Paul in a pivotal role.
