New Delhi, Nov. 2 -- On Friday, veteran actors Anupam Kher, Piyush Mishra and Annu Kapoor - along with actor Akshay Kumar met some of their biggest fans at HT City Stars in The City.
The actors spoke about working together on their film, The Shaukeens, as well as the unconventional genre of the movie, in a chat with Sonal Kalra, National Editor, Entertainment & Lifestyle, Hindustan Times. The actors responded to questions from fans, that were asked to them through a round of the popular game, passing the parcel.
Akshay, you play a superstar in the film with a drinking and an anger problem, and you are someone who doesn't have either of these...
Akshay: Well, I think that the writer thought, 'iski real zindagi toh bahut boring hai ... toh usne socha ki mujhe alcholoic bane dete hain.' Mein naam toh nahi lunga, lekin kahin actors hain jo nariyal ke paani ke andar mila ke peeta hain (laughs). So that is the whole thing, ki ussi character ko rangeen banaya jaye aur usmin thodha anger bhi rakha hai.
Annu, your role in Vicky Donor (2012) was a big hit. Will we see some glimpses of Dr. Chadda in the film?
Annu: Do alag alag concept hain, do alag alag films hain ... Teen tharkiyon ki kahaani hai. Beech main Akshay Kumar ji humare milan ke madhayam hain.
Anupam: Iss mein khud donate karna chahte hain. How is this film different from the original?
Piyush: Yeh ek bilkul taazi script hai. Aaj ki tareek computer age ki hai. Ladki (Lisa Haydon's character) is a Facebook addict. (But) the film is not a sex or a sleazy comedy. It is a sensible comedy. The film also gives a lesson in the end, without being preachy.
Piyush you have done dark characters in the past. Did comedy come easily to you?
Mere upar bahut bojha tha complex roles ka ... but thankfully, this film is a big change. I enjoyed doing it.
