Mumbai, Dec. 28 -- He has a busy 2014 with three big releases, and that's probably why Akshay Kumar seems to be in holiday mode right now. After an extended overseas trip with wife Twinkle earlier this month, he has been in Goa for the past few days, getting ready to bring in the New Year with his family.
And Akshay has made the break special by taking along not just Twinkle and his children (son Aarav and daughter Nitara), but his mother-in-law Dimple Kapadia, his sister Alka and his brother-in-law Surendra Hiranandani, in addition to several close friends.
"It was Akshay's idea to bring in 2014 with everyone who he is close to. So he has made special arrangements for all his relatives and friends. Everyone is having a great time at his sprawling bungalow on Anjuna beach.
He and Twinkle are playing the perfect hosts," says an insider close to the couple. "Akshay will be back in the first week of January, since he needs to finish work on his films starting with Holiday (Thuppaki remake)."
Akshay couldn't be reached for comment, but he tweeted about the break, "Merry Christmas everyone! I'm off on my year end family vacation...rejoicing watching my lil one (Nitara) getting excited about the Christmas lights & goodies all around. Hope you are having a great time with your family too. Happy Holidays (sic)." Besides Akshay, the actor's Thank You (2011) co-star Sonam Kapoor - who is currently shooting in Rajasthan - will also head to Goa with her friends after a short stop in Mumbai.
