Mumbai, Aug. 6 -- Way back in 1991, a young Akshay Kumar performed at a live show for the first time in Delhi. Since then, he has gone on to perform at hundreds of such shows across the globe. But an upcoming one, on August 9, will be special for the actor, as it will be his 500th live performance.
The show will take place at the O2 arena in London, UK. "Akshay's performance will take place on the inaugural day of an international kabaddi league that is set to kick off in London. Although he is caught up with the promotion of his next release, he has managed to make some time for this full-fledged performance," says an insider close to the star. Apart from dancing to some of his popular songs, Akshay is also expected to be seen acting and indulging in some mimicry on stage. "This is also why he has personally been involved in planning the entire performance," adds the insider. The actor has apparently dedicated the show to all kabaddi fans.
"Everyone knows that Akshay loves sports, and since kabaddi is not very popular in India anymore, he wants to do whatever he can to promote it," says the insider. Although Akshay couldn't be reached for a comment, he had told IANS earlier, "The league is a step to promote the Indian sport and bring it closer to the fans of the sport spread across the world." He also co-owns a team that is participating in the league.
