Airlift breaks Jan jinx!

Akshay Kumar

Mumbai, Feb. 5 -- Bollywood is known to have done poor business in the month of January in several recent years. But the jinx may have been broken this year, with the
' 100 crore at the box office, making it the first hit of 2016.

Talking about the success of the film, Akshay says, "The new year has welcomed us with so much love and respect for Airlift that it almost beats the fact that we've crossed ' 100 crore already. Quality always rules over quantity in my eyes, and Airlift is one of the proudest moments in my career. To have the honour to bring so much pride to our nation is one of the greatest feelings I've ever had in all my years."

Director Raja Krishna Menon, too, is happy with the response the film has garnered. "I feel happy that the audience has accepted a film that we made, without compromises on any front. It is an indication of the audience acceptance of a new kind of mainstream."

Producer Bhushan Kumar is elated with the feedback and the box-office figures as well. He says, "It's very satisfying when your film wins both the audience's love and also gets commercial success. It's heartening to see a real-life drama such as Airlift cross 100 crore. This will encourage more producers to invest in such content."
