Mumbai, March 24 -- Lots of books have been adapted into films in the past, and in several such instances, the actors are known to read them thoroughly as part of their preparation for their role.
However, Aditya Roy Kapur is an exception. His next film is based on Charles Dickens's Great Expectations, but the actor has deliberately stayed away from even glancing at the book.
A source close to Aditya says, "His friends suggested that he read the book before the shoot began, because it would give him a better understanding of the nuances of his character, but he has never desired to read it. He was clear that he wanted to stick to the vision of the director, Abhishek Kapoor."
Aditya, who plays the lead role in the movie opposite Katrina Kaif, apparently has an intense character. "He didn't want to have preconceived notions about the role, or to lose perspective of the brief that Abhishek gave him. He feels that even if a film is an adaptation, the director can visualise the characters and their portrayals in a completely different manner," adds the source.
When contacted, Aditya's spokesperson confirmed the news.
