Mumbai, Sept. 10 -- Film-maker Aditya Chopra, in most ways, has taken over the work at the family banner after the demise of his father, Yash Chopra. And at the production house, it was a tradition that senior Chopra would give the first clap for any film being made. And now, we're told that Aditya will continue the practice.
A source close to Aditya reveals, "Aditya did the first clap for their next film starring Shah Rukh Khan. When Yash sir was around, he would ensure that he gave the first clap. After he passed away, though Aditya took over all the work, he didn't want to follow the first clap custom. So, everyone decided that the senior most person on the set would do the needful."
However, it was after insistence from SRK and the film's director, Maneesh Sharma, that Aditya decided to take on the responsibility.
The source says, "This is SRK's first film with the banner with Yash sir not around. Earlier, for all of SRK's films with the banner, Yash sir would be omnipresent, and that presence meant a lot to him. Both he and Maneesh coaxed Aditya to give the first clap. On Saturday, Aditya finally did it for the first time, and henceforth will do the same for other projects as well."
When contacted, Rafiq Gangjee, spokesperson of the banner, confirmed the news.
