Mumbai, Dec. 28 -- Abhinay Deo was recently in Lucknow to finalise the locations where he will shoot his next, which will be a dark comedy. The director, who has made films like Game and Delhi Belly (both 2011), is excited to shoot in the city. The script of the project has been penned Parvez Sheikh, who also wrote the Kangana Ranautstarrer, Queen.
"This script is very dear to me. It's a dark comedy, which is - to some extent - similar to Delhi Belly, but without the foul language. The story revolves around some common people in Lucknow whose lives change in a span of seven-eight days," says Deo, adding, "The film's story is set in a one-week period. The cast and humour are very interesting. We've already announced that Irrfan (Khan) will be in the film; the rest of the casting is underway."
The director plans to shoot the entire film in the Uttar Pradesh capital. "Some bits may be filmed in Mumbai, but everything else will be shot in Lucknow. It's a youth-centric film. I want to show the old-world charm of the city as well as the developing aspects of it - malls, new houses and the changing youth. Old monuments, incredible streets and Awadhi food will stay in the backdrop," says Deo.
The director feels that the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's subsidy card policy has helped him travel to Lucknow to shoot his film. "It helps us to come so far. Shooting a film outside Mumbai involves a lot of travel, lodging and boarding costs for the entire crew, so such subsidies help us plan the film shoots at other locations," he adds.
