Reacting to Somnath Bharti’s recent antics, actor Abhay Deol said the Delhi law minister was tarnishing the image of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Recently, Bharti played a vigilante and carried out a midnight raid on an alleged drug and sex racket in the Capital, paving the way for a chaotic demonstration after the police defied his orders. Abhay termed the law minister’s manoeuvres “unacceptable”.
“That Bharti episode, that looked very bad. You have to be careful, you can’t just be ordering policemen. That was uncalled for and unacceptable,” Abhay said, while talking to Hindustantimes.com.
“You cannot be bullish with women, you can’t be a dictator like that. And everything your party stands for, don’t ruin it. It’s with great difficulty that you have come up. You also have to follow the law,” he added.
The actor, who was in Delhi to promote his upcoming film One By Two, also said the AAP does not have the privilege of sitting on dharnas anymore since it has to meet the expectations of people who have voted it to power.
He also said the AAP has a lot of responsibility towards the people. “They have come to power and they have the support of the people... Now that they are in power, they have a lot of responsibility.”
