Actor-turned-producer Abhay Deol, who recently protested against a music label over a copyright tussle with the composers of his upcoming film, has now found backing from several prominent Bollywood musicians.
The tussle started over a document that Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, music directors of Abhay’s upcoming film, were asked to sign. Now, popular names such as Javed Akhtar, Vishal-Shekhar, Sajid Ali and others have come out in support of Abhay. We’ve now been informed that a video supporting the cause is being shot with these artistes.
A source close to the actor reveals, “These artistes have come forward to promote the film in reciprocation to Abhay’s move. The musicians will sport a black eye and separately shoot one of the film’s songs, ‘I am pakaoed’. These will then be clubbed together into a special video and uploaded on the web.” The video will be released this weekend.
Ask Abhay about this ongoing fight and he says, “Everyone from the music fraternity is supporting me. Even Mukesh Bhatt (producer) called me the other day. So far, the support has been good.” Abhay adds that it was about time someone fought for this cause. He says, “This is nothing personal. I tend to confront and not hide when there’s an issue. And I can be diplomatic to a point, but when diplomacy doesn’t work, you have to take the route that I did. I wish more people were vocal.”
