Mumbai, Jan. 14 -- In the recent past, Aamir Khan has earned a reputation of sorts for releasing his films - all hits - only around Christmas (Taare Zameen Par, 2007; Ghajini, 2008; 3 Idiots, 2009; and Dhoom:3, 2013).
But last year, it was announced that the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer, Bombay Velvet (BV), too would have a Christmas 2014 release. So far, Aamir had no year-end release slated for 2014, but now, in an interesting turn of events, he might prove to be competition to Ranbir.
Apparently, the release of his next, P.K., might be postponed from June 6 to the Christmas weekend. "Aamir has had a word with Raju sir (Hirani; director/co-producer) about it. And it's not just Aamir, the distributors -after the big success of Dhoom:3 - are also keen on a Christmas release. The makers haven't yet taken a decision to push the release date" says an insider.
While Aamir's project will require another 20-25 days of shooting to be completed, Ranbir's film is most likely to be ready by October. "Aamir is currently working on Satyamev Jayate 2. He will shoot for the film in February while Ranbir will restart work on BV around March," adds the insider. When contacted, the makers of BV were unaware of any box-office clash. "Right now, all I can say is that our film will be ready around October. So we can choose any date in December or otherwise. We are yet to take a final call," says BV co-producer Vikas Bahl.
