New Delhi, Oct. 20 -- It was a starry Saturday evening as the Capital witnessed a grand coming together of Bollywood celebrities in support of a Kashmir. Actors Aamir Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Parineeti Chopra, who participated in the initiative, Hum Hain ... Umeed-EKashmir in association with Hindustan Times, danced and sang, even as they urged people of Delhi to o donate money for those who were affected in last month'ss Kashmir floods.
The audience at the jam-packed Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium were glued to their seats for more than four hours as they witnessed some of the biggest names in Bollywood performing live.
Actor, director and singer, Akhtar kickstarted the evening with a power-packed performance, in which the 40-year-old sang many hit songs from his films, including, Dil Chahta Hai and Rock On. Actor Aamir Khan followed suit and sat down with the host of the evening,evening Samir Kochhar, to talk about his love for Kashmir and explain the significance of the fundraiser. Khan also announced a donation of
' 25 lakh towards the cause. Actors Neha Dhupia, Aditi Rao Hydari, Parineeti Chopra and Sushant Singh Rajput, set the stage on fire with individual dance performances, and contributed their bit to the cause.
Singers Shaan, Mohit Chauhan and Javed Ali added a musical touch to the evening. While Shaan sang a RD Burman classic, classic Yeh Kashmir Hai and his own version of the popular English track, One Love, Javed Ali mesmerised the audiences as he sang his own hit Kun Faya Kun from the film Rockstar (2011). Chauhan joined the other singers in the end, to deliver a special performance as the entire music community poetically urged Dilliwalas to help not only the state of Jammu and Kashmir, but also Assam and Orissa, since those states have been hit by floods recently, too.
