New Delhi, April 21 -- Till a few days back, the 2014 Christmas weekend was set to see three big films - Aamir Khan's next being helmed by Rajkumar Hirani, Anurag Kashyap's Ranbir Kapoor-starrer and John Abraham's comic caper, being directed by Anees Bazmee.
Now, all three have moved to different dates, the latest being Kashyap's film that will release on November 28, leaving the Christmas weekend open. This has sparked off buzz that the makers of Aamir and John's respective films which will clash on December 19, are thinking of reclaiming the Christmas period.
However, Bazmee says, "We announced December 19 as our release date first. They (makers of Aamir's film) have made the announcement now, so there's no question of changing it." Insiders say that the makers of Aamir's next, too, have "no plan to go back to the Christmas weekend".
"When a film is made for ' 100 crore, makers see it earning ' 200 crore. To make that kind of money, you need a longer run," says trade analyst Amod Mehra. "Worldwide, celebrations start around that time, so makers of Aamir's film have made a smart move. It's too early to say if this move will affect John's film," says trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
