New Delhi, March 19 -- The Lok Sabha election is less than a month away and several stars have taken it upon themselves to sensetise people to come out and vote.
Thus, Aamir Khan will now be the face of Election Commission's (EC) initiative to spread awareness about the importance of voting.
A source close to the actor reveals, "About 15 days ago, Aamir had a meeting with officials from the Election Commission, where they discussed the campaign. It's a nationwide initiative through which Aamir will tell citizens to practise judicious voting." The 49-year-old will finish shooting the campaign before the nation goes to polls in early April.
Delhi boy, cricketer Virat Kohli, too, has reportedly been approached by the EC for the same campaign.
Recently, in a fun campaign for a news channel, Amitabh Bachchan told voters that while actors get retakes, they won't, so they should pick their candidate with care. Similarly, Salman Khan, too, spread awareness about the importance of voting, during one of his promotional visits to Gujarat.
Another news channel has been urging female voters to exercise their right by featuring actors such as Varun Dhawan, Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra, Arjun Kapoor and Preity Zinta, among others, in their campaign. Even TV actor Meghna Malik and wrestler Sangram Singh have been roped in by Haryana Election Commission to encourage people to get their names enrolled in the electoral rolls.
