Mumbai, June 3 -- Aamir Khan's TV show, Satyamev Jayate, seems to have found a new admirer. Newly appointed Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi has asked her staff to take pointers from an episode of the series.
Apparently, inspired by the episode that dealt with the plight of rape victims, Gandhi asked officials in her ministry to watch it and deliberate on solutions offered in it before they get down to framing their policy on rehabilitating rape victims. Not surprisingly, Aamir is glad. "I was pleasantly surprised to note that Manekaji has watched our episode, Fighting Rape, and has recommended it to her staff. I do believe that women's safety is one of the key issues that we need to concentrate on," he says.
According to a Hindustan Times report, Gandhi, in particular, mentioned the urgent need to set up 'one-stop crisis centres' as emphasised on the show, to provide support to rape victims. "I am glad that the new government is moving quickly on it. My team and I will be happy to help in any way that the honourable minister feels fit," adds Aamir.
