Mumbai, Dec. 15 -- That Aamir Khan is a cricket fan is well known, and the actor keeps track of the sport in spite of his hectic schedule. So, recently, when acting captain Virat Kohli hit back-to-back centuries in the first Test match against Australia, Aamir reached out to congratulate the young cricketer for his performance.
A source close to Aamir says, "He has been busy with a hectic nine-day tour for his upcoming film, but has been keeping a close watch on the ongoing series between India and Australia. Even though Australia won the first Test match, the Indian team gave it a good shot and Virat performed very well in both the innings. Aamir found that commendable and decided to message Virat about his innings. In his message, Aamir expressed how he had been following the match and was impressed with Virat's performance."
In the past, too, Aamir has been vocal about his love of the game. The actor was also in the stands during the India-Sri Lanka World Cup 2011 final in Mumbai. He was also seen cheering Sachin Tendulkar, and even made an appearance in the commentary box during the cricket legend's last match, which was a Test against the West Indies at the Wankhede Stadium in November 2013. In this latest instance, there's another link between Aamir and cricket - his co-star in his upcoming film is Anushka Sharma, who is reportedly dating Virat.
