Mumbai, Sept. 27 -- Diwali 2012 promises to be full of action at the box office, as the releases of veteran directors, Ramesh Sippy and Yash Chopra, will clash at the ticket windows. Interestingly, both the films are love stories.
Sippy, known for hits like Sholay (1975), Seeta Aur Geeta (1972), Shaan (1980), and Saagar (1985), is returning to directing films after a gap of 16 years.
Likewise, Chopra, who is known for films like Waqt (1965), Deewar (1975), Kabhi Kabhie (1976) and Silsila (1981), will be seen helming a film after seven years, as Veer Zaara (2004) was his last. Sources close to Sippy reveal that he has already started casting for his next and is likely to ready his comeback film by Diwali. Chopra's film has already been scheduled to release around the same time. At the moment, Sippy is busy adding finishing touches to the script.
After this, he will start the elaborate process of picking faces, mainly from the younger brigade. "Yes, it's true that we are looking at a much younger cast. I'm going to lock the script within a couple of weeks and then will start the process of casting. We are working hard to meet the Diwali deadline," says Sippy, who is likely to steer clear of the older generation of actor for this film. Yash Chopra ha already announced that his next will star Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma.
Diwali is considered a big day for releases and generally, family audiences hit the silver screen around then. Interestingly, Sippy and Chopra's career graphs have been quite intertwined as both are known make large scale romantic films and achieve commercial successes at the box office. Over the years, they have released many biggies in the same years and clashed at various instances at awards ceremonies.
