Bollywood stars head to Morocco!

Towards the end of this month, half of Bollywood will be flying off to one common destination. In a rare instance, everyone, from Shah Rukh Khan and the Bachchans to Hrithik Roshan and Sridevi, will make appearances at the Marrakech International Film Festival to be held from November 30 to December 8 in the Moroccan capital.

Two actors will dominate the festival in particular. Shah Rukh Khan’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan (JTHJ), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (K3G; 2001), Don 2 (2011) and Veer Zaara (2004), as well as Hrithik’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), Jodhaa Akbar (2008) and Agneepath are slated to be screened at the event.

“Shah Rukh’s presence is confirmed, but he will only visit for a day,” says an insider close to the actor. During his brief stay, he will attend a special screening of late director-producer Yash Chopra’s JTHJ, representing the film.

Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan will attend the screening of K3G along with director Karan Johar. The filmmaker will then be joined by the cast of Student Of The Year — Siddharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Rishi Kapoor — at a screening of his recent release. Kapoor’s wife, Neetu, will also accompany the veteran actor.

Having made a successful comeback with English Vinglish, Sridevi along with producer-husband Boney Kapoor, will also join the Indian contingent. Director Gauri Shinde and husband-producer R Balki will also be present at the screening.

Some of the others expected at the festival include directors Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap, Ashutosh Gowariker and Anurag Basu, and actors Arjun Rampal, Priyanka Chopra, Kalki Koechlin and Ileana D’Cruz.

ZNMDThe festival will also pay tribute to Indian cinema’s centenary at a ceremony where the Bollywood delegation, led by Big B, will be honoured on December 1.

“It’s a great tribute for the Indian film fraternity to be honoured at an international platform such as this. The fest also has a special emotional connect with me because my films, such as K3G, have a vast audience in Morocco,” says Johar.
