Omprakash Mehra's "Rang De Basanti" rocked the box office and now its songs, composed by the prolific music composer A.R.

Rahman, are spiralling up the stairway of hits.

The top 10 Hindi songs are:

1. "Paathshala" - Film: "Rang De Basanti"; singers: Naresh Iyer, Mohammed Aslam; music: A.R. Rahman. The film is declared

a blockbuster and now this rhythm-based song puts "Rang De Basanti" on a musical high.

2. "Boombai Nagariya" - Film: "Taxi No.9211"; singer: Bappi Lahiri; music: Vishaal-Shekhar. A new entrant on the list,

this track marks the comeback of music composer Bappi Lahiri as a singer.

3. "Right here right now" - Film: "Bluffmaster"; singers: Abhishek Bachchan and Sunidhi Chauhan; music: Vishal-Shekhar.

The hugely popular rap song that remained on the top for more than a month is now losing its charm, sliding to number three

this week.

4. "Jiya dhadak dhadak jaaye" - Film: "Kalyug"; singer: Rahat Fateh Ali Khan; music: Faisal Rafi, Rohail Hyat. Music buffs

have hugely appreciated this song so reminiscent of the soft, romantic numbers of the late 1960s and early 1970s.

5 "Fanaah" - Film: "Hum Ko Deewana Kar Gaye"; singer: Kay Kay; music director: Anu Malik. Recently Raj Kanwar unleashed

the music album of the film and this foot-tapping number is already on the charts.

6. "Kajra re" - Film: "Bunty Aur Babli"; singers: Alisha Chinnai, Shankar Mahadevan and Javed Ali; music: Shankar, Ehsaan

and Loy. One of the hugely popular item numbers of 2005, "Kajra re" is back in the reckoning.

7 "Salaam namaste" - Film: "Salaam Namaste"; singers: Kunal Ganjawala, Vasundhara Das; music: Vishal-Shekar. The title

song, which was an instant hit last year, is back to woo the music buffs.

8. "Aapki kashish" - Film: "Aashiq Banaya Aapne"; singer: Himesh Reshammiya; music: Himesh Reshammiya. Crooned by

Reshammiya, the track has created a niche for itself among the music lovers.

9. "Halla re" - Film: "Neal 'N' Nikki"; singers: Shweta Pandit, Salim Merchant, Irshad Kamil; music: Salim-Sulaiman. This

puppy love story received a lot of flak for Tanisha Mukherji's skin show, but its music has done well. This highly energetic

number is still popular.

10 "Kasto mazza" - Film: "Parineeta"; singers: Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal; music: Shantanu Moitra. After a long gap, this

song re-enters the music list.
