Mumbai, Aug. 10 -- Film: Bodyguard. Music: Himesh Reshammiya, Pritam. Lyrics: Neelesh Misra.
Bodyguard makes no bones of what it intends to be - an all-out Punjabi pop, lowest-denominator leg shaker, with the occasional lovey-dovey number. This is the sort of music the film's music directors Pritam and Himesh Reshammiya want to see being played on the roads and in nightclubs.
And that may not be so hard given the fact that this movie is a larger-than-life Salman-starrer. Songs don't necessarily need to make much sense or need a specific reason for their style or genre. For instance, the title track starts with a regular tapori asking another if he's heard the title song in the movie, which is apparently "faadu" (super). The song continues expectedly, but random guitar riffs dilute its rhythm.
