Actor R Madhavan is on a weight-loss mission and Bipasha Basu, his Jodi Breakers co-star and a fitness freak, is helping him with shed the kilos. "I got injured while shooting the action scenes of Jodi Breakers and in order to start physiotherapy, I have to be agile. I have to lose oodles of weight
and Bipasha is helping me with it. She's not letting my hand reach the cookies," he quips.
'Bipasha is a sweetheart'
Talking further about his Jodi Breakers co-star, the 41-year-old actor says, "Bipasha shares my passion for cinema, so we got along really well. She's a sweetheart. Personally, a person can be best judged by the number of friends he or she has and Bipasha has many friends who swear by her."
'You guys were conned'
Considering Madhavan injured his knee while shooting for Jodi Breakers, how did he manage to dance in the hit song, Kunwara Hoon Kunwara? "Well, my choreographer conned you. I am hardly dancing in the song. He choreographed it in such a way that I just have to stand and smile. He filled the frame with Russian girls who did all the dancing," he says.
'Promotion tours are most taxing'
Madhavan feels the worst thing about the whole filmmaking process is the promotions that have now become an intrinsic part of movie-making. "Promotions are the most taxing part for actors. Shooting for the movie is a song compared to the promotions. But then, it's all worth it," he says.
From good boy to Casanova
Bipasha had recently said that Madhavan's character in Jodi Breakers will be the complete opposite of the 'good boy' tag he carries in most of his films. "Madhavan gets to be naughty this time." Madddy agrees. "Yes I play a character very different from what I have portrayed. But I don't think he's a casanova. He is a man who just got divorced and becomes single again. While he enjoys this new-found freedom, he also feels lonely. It's this dilemma that he faces, which is very real and many people can relate to it."
A controversy-free career
When asked to dole out his secret to staying out of controversies, Maddy jokes, "Well, I do them secretly!" He adds, "Actually I am not a public person. I hardly attend film parties. I'm into golf and skiing and pursue them. And, above all, my wife trusts me." Most actors are branching out into other fields of cinema. So, does Maddy too plan to diversify? "Nope. I'll stick to acting. In fact, I'll be acting till I die. That's for sure."
