New Delhi, June 11 -- In 2008, Amitabh Bachchan played a friendly ghost in the Ravi Chopra-produced Bhoothnath. Ever since, Chopra's banner, BR Films - makers of hits like Waqt (1965), Burning Train (1980) and Baghban (2003) - hasn't produced any Bollywood film.
But now, the banner is back with Bhoothnath 2, a sequel to the Big B-starrer. And, part two, again starring Bachchan, has a budget of over R30 crore. The film will be produced by BR Films and Bhushan Kumar of T-Series. "Yes, we are partnering with BR Films. We have done the music for all of Raviji's (Chopra) films - Baabul (2006), Baghban and Bhoothnath. So we share a great relationship. Of late, they haven't been active, but when I heard the script of Bhoothnath 2, I found it mind-blowing," says Bhushan. He attributes the R30 crore budget to better special effects.
"In the last five years, newer special effects techniques have come in. So we have to keep things on par with the best. That will cost a lot," says Bhushan. To be directed by Chillar Party (2011) co-director Nitesh Tiwari, the film will also star Boman Irani and a new kid. The shooting starts in November and the makers are looking to release it by April next year.
Chopra's son Abhay, who is working on the film (as a producer), says, "We took up Bhoothnath 2 the moment we got a strong script. Amit uncle is also gung-ho about it."
