Mumbai, Sept. 18 -- He is known as The Turbanator on the cricket pitch. But Saturday evening saw off-spinner Harbhajan Singh sport a completely different avatar. The cricketer, in a large-hearted gesture, decided to promote Akshay Kumar's upcoming production, Speedy Singhs, in Delhi along with other cast members.
If sources close to the film are to be believed, Harbhajan decided to promote Speedy Singhs since its core theme revolves around a sport (ice hockey). Also, the cricketer relates to the film's strong Punjabi connection, especially with the all-Sikhs team's determination to master ice hockey.
When contacted, producer Ajay Virmani said, "Since it is a film based on a sport and revolves around Singhs, Harbhajan found a great connect and wanted to be a part of the event. We were glad that he took time out from his schedule and decided to be a part of our promotions."
The ace spinner also shook a leg with the star cast of Speedy Singhs at the musical event. In fact, the cricketer apparently worked hard on mastering the dance steps to perform with the cast of the film on the chartbuster, 'Shera di kaum...' Based in Toronto, the film is about young Rajveer, an aspiring ice hockey player, who is struggling to deal with his Indo-Canadian traditions. The film is titled Breakaway for the international market, and Speedy Singhs for the Indian audience. In fact, it was Akshay who came up with the title to include his favourite 'Singh' in the title.
