Baby came before sex determination debate: Shah Rukh Khan

By HT

Putting an end to the recent controversy over his third child born through surrogacy, actor, Shah Rukh Khan said on Tuesday there had never been a sex determination test of the baby. “Just to put the record straight there was no sex determination for our child. The baby was born
much before the speculations of ‘sex determination’ and other issues,” read Khan’s statement, which came hours after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) health department, which was probing the complaint of sex determination, finalised its inquiry report and submitted it to the Maharashtra health department.

In his statement, Khan said the third child had been named AbRam. “Amidst all the noise that has been going around, the sweetest is the one made by our newborn baby, AbRam.

He was born prematurely by several months but has finally come home.

Gauri and our whole family have been dealing with his health issues for a long time now.”

Varsha Deshpande, who runs Lek Ladki Abhyaan, an NGO working against sex determination, had filed a complaint with the BMC, alleging sex determination.

BMC additional municipal commissioner Manisha Mhaiskar said the report also showed the birth had happened way before the newspaper reports talked of sex determination.

Khan in his statement thanked Dr Jatin Shah, who carried out the surrogacy, and apologised to other doctors and hospitals whose names were dragged into the controversy.
