The man is in big demand among filmmakers. So even as Arjun Kapoor wraps up Yash Raj Films’ Aurangzeb, and is confirmed to do Ali Abbas Zafar’s Gunday and Karan Johar-Sajid Nadiadwala’s 2 States, we hear that if all goes well, the young star could be sharing screen space with uncle Anil Kapoor in Welcome 2. The film is a sequel to the 2007 hit comedy.
Although director Anees Bazmee is currently busy with No Entry Mein Entry (the sequel to No Entry, his 2005 hit), sources confirm that Welcome 2 is planned. And what’s most interesting is that both Arjun and Anil are at the “discussion stage” with producer Firoz Nadiadwala.
“Right now, Arjun won’t talk about it, but he has been approached. Also, Anil is going to take a final call on the film only after going through the script. He feels that his character in Welcome, Majnu bhai, was as entertaining as Munna (from Tezaab), Lakhan (from Ram Lakhan) and RD (from the Race series), and wants the script to be good. That’s why he isn’t in a hurry to make the final decision,” says an insider close to the project.
Arjun, on his part, is busy wrapping up Aurangzeb. “But he is likely to go through the script before starting 2 States,” adds the insider. While both the Kapoors remained unavailable for a comment, Bazmee stated: “Right now, I am concentrating on No Entry Mein Entry. So I don’t know what to say about such talk (about Welcome 2).”
