A Band Baaja Baraat (2010) sequel may not be on the cards yet, but Shruti and Bittoo’s love story continues to flourish off screen. From candid coffee dates to unabashed lip locks at parties, there’s plenty of gossip about them.
Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh, who are currently filming the Yashraj con caper, Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl in Goa, have moved out of the Taj Village in Anjuna, where the rest of the unit is staying. The latest news is that they have checked into another hotel and are sharing a suite.
Bring this up with Anushka and she admits to the switch, but reasons that because the location shifted from North to South Goa this week, staying at the Taj Village would mean an hour-and-a-half spent on commuting. “That’s difficult when your reporting time is 7 am, so Ranveer and I, along with our staff, Maneesh (director Maneesh Sharma) and Aseem (cinematographer Aseem Mishra), have moved to a place 10 minutes away. We’re all booked in separate rooms. And if Ranveer and I are spotted having a meal together after a hard day’s work, it doesn’t mean that we’re living in,” she argues.
Anushka SharmaThe actor grouses that her personal life has become fodder for the rumour mills of late. Not just Ranveer, she’s points out that she has also been linked to Ranbir Kapoor. Apparently, she’s pitching for a role in his next film with Wake Up Sid (2009) director Ayan Mukherji.
“If I had to pitch for a role, I’d have done it long ago. I have a wish list of people I want to work with, but I can never pick up the phone and try to get myself into a project I’m not in consideration for. Shahid (Kapoor), Ranbir, Ranveer, Ayan and I respect each other. Sometimes we go out for dinner or to a party. It’s normal for youngsters to hang out together. You don’t have to meet with an agenda in mind,” she retorts.
Anushka points out that the only two co-stars she hasn’t been linked with are Shah Rukh Khan (Rab Ne Bana De Jodi, 2008) and Akshay Kumar (Patiala House, 2011) because they are married.
“I was supposed to be seeing Shahid (her co-star in Badmash Company, 2008), and now it’s Ranveer and Ranbir. And Ranbir isn’t even a co-star,” she says, exasperatedly. “Just because we are single doesn’t mean something has to happen. Sometimes, that something doesn’t happen. I wish people would understand that, instead of giving me a new mate every month. What kind of a girl does that make me? I’m often told that there is no smoke without fire, but in my case there’s lots of smoke and no fire.”
