Anil Sharma signs six movie deal

By Hindustan Times

MUMBAI, Oct. 11 -- Anil Sharma, who made the super hit Gadar: Ek Prem Katha in 2001, will be back in the movie business soon. Anil's last film was Veer (2010), staring Salman Khan, which failed to impress at the box-office.

In the past, he has also produced quite a few films. Now comes the news that he has signed a six movie deal with CG Patel of White House Productions and former K Sera Sera managing director, Parag Sanghvi.

The six films will be made on small budgets ranging from R6- 10 crore. Says Anil, "The industry has given a lot to me. Now it's time to give something back. I always wanted to help newcomers and fresh faces. The six films will be in keeping with that dream of mine."

As per the deal, Anil will look out for young talent and not rely on established actors. He says, "I won't discuss the inside details yet, but the films will not be regular fare. We will try to squeeze in known faces, but that's just a possibility. All the actors and directors will be new. I won't direct any of these films." Out of the six films, two will be announced later in the year and the remaining will go on the floors in the first quarter of 2013.

Adds Anil, "These films will be done within a short span of time. Big budget films, like the ones I have made with Sunny Deol, require at least R50 crore. These six films will be made for the multiplex audiences, who watch and appreciate niche films."

As of now, none of the actors or directors have been finalised. Anil says, "I am currently away from the city, shooting for Singh Sahab The Great for two months at a stretch. Once I'm back, I will add the finishing touches for all the films and address a press conference." Like a lot of his earlier films that featured the Deols, Singh Sahab The Great also stars Sunny Deol.
