Singer Kailash Kher and choreographer Saroj Khan will add glitter to the opening ceremony of the 43rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) to be inaugurated by actor Akshay Kumar on November 20 in Goa.
In a video uploaded by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Youtube, the singer shared his excitement at the prospect of performing at the opening night of the gala event. “This time, I’ve been fortunate to have been made a part of this grand event. We will sing, but we will also dance and jump, as it is the 100 years of Indian cinema that we are celebrating. The mood is very festive,” says Kher.
The 39-year-old singer says that he would be performing a medley of songs which would be choreographed by veteran choreographer Saroj Khan. “I am looking forward to it,” says Kher.
According to the officials of the ministry of Information and Broadcasting, a new annual award to commemorate the centenary of Indian cinema has also been instituted for the 43rd IFFI.
All films screened in the festival across its various sections will be eligible for the prize, officials added.
The Centenary Award would be given to a film that pushed the boundaries of cinema in terms of substance, form, technique or technology.
